I don’t think I could have come across this spot without the suggestion of a local Austinite.  The Percy V. Pennybacker Jr. Bridge in Austin, Texas, is a through-arch bridge across Lake Austin (Colorado River) which connects the northern and southern sections of the Loop 360 highway, also known as the “Capital of Texas Highway. There is a tiny “parking area” just before the bridge where we hopped out and then it’s a small hike up the side of this boulder. When you get to the top you have a 360 degree view of the area including the downtown skyline. It’s a cool spot to hike, explore, chill and get a great view…. and it’s free!
