I was lucky enough to pop into Savory Spice Shop in St Petersburg last weekend and picked up some Florida flavors. Savory is a cozy, hands on shop right off Beach Drive NE on 4th Ave N where you can sample the wares and ask all the questions. It’s settled in the heart of Downtown St Pete which is always bustling with people enjoying the waterfront, Vinoy Park, the museums, fantastic restaurants and entertainment.

Tonight I decided to try their special local blend St Pete Snapper Seasoning in a chicken marinade.

Perfect for seafood, use on snapper, grouper and shellfish. Add to marinades for poultry. Use as a seasoning for vegetables too.

It’s a versatile mix of sea salt, lime peel, Mexican oregano, garlic, chiles, Makrut lime leaves & cilantro. I made a marinade with olive oil, a little lemon juice, splash of vinegar and some of the St Pete Snapper Seasoning. The chicken breasts had a nice soak in that marinade and then grilled. I warmed up a tortilla, black beans, sautéed a few bits of onion and mushrooms and slapped it all together with some guacamole and a sprinkle of cheese. Easy cheesy and oh so delicious!
